What is the Scale Library?

The Scale Library is the collection of scales that have been sampled from the many streams and lakes throughout the Lower Mainland Region. Some scale samples go as far back as 1948. In 1997 the collection of scales were re-organised and sorted numerically using their 45 digit watershed codes and by waterbody type, with streams separated from lakes. The Scale library is also sorted chronologically by species within each waterbody. All samples were added to the Scale library for easy reference.

You can also view scale sample records by selecting a waterbody on the South Coast Cutthroat Atlas to view all available records for that waterbody.
