INTRODUCTION |

The
Map Builder is a mapping application that allows you to create your
own custom map by selecting from over 1,000 thematic layers. |

To access the Map Builder or
to view the other maps on this site, you must download the latest
version of the Autodesk Mapguide viewer. Click the image below to
go to the download page.

BUILDER TOOLS |

Function to quickly zoom to a project area. A pre-defined set of layers
related to the selected project area will automatically load. Other
layers can be added to this map layout.

Function
to select the map size that will best fit the user's screen resolution.
The default is set to Medium |

Button
that toggles between the Themes listing and the Mapguide legend. In
"Themes" mode, you can view all the 1,000+ layers available
and select any of them to include on your map. Note that layers are
not available for viewing at all scales. If the check box besides
a theme is grayed out, you must zoom in further in order to add this
theme to your map. You can see at what scale the themes are available
by placing the mouse over the theme title, a small box will display
the scale range at which the theme is available for viewing.. The
"Legend" mode uses the standard Mapguide legend and allow
you to turn on and off the layers and see the symbology associated
with each layer. |

Function
to change the hierarchy of the themes that you have selected. In the
Mapguide legend, the layers are displayed based on a default hierarchy
order. You may find useful to move a layer over another layer. Note:
the layers are drawn from bottom to top. |

Tools
to easily locate features on the map. First, select a search category
from the drop-down menu (categories include: place names, grid, streams,
lake etc). Second, enter a text string in the "Location"
box. Third, enter the width of the map in the "Zoom to width"
box (this will determine how close you are zooming in), and hit the
search button. If the query returns more than one record, another
screen will allow you to choose a feature from a list. The map will
then zoom to that feature which will appear in the middle of the map
window. |

Function
to locate a specific street address. This function is limited to FVRD
at this point but CMN plans to extend this further as datasets become
available. |

Option
to save a custom map to your desktop for further use. Important note: The default is "c:/CMN.mwf", make sure you change the orientation of the slash. e.g. "c:\" |

This
function will return the map to it default settings. |
